Thank you, Van. I'm not argiung that marrying a person of color is a free pass against beng racist. I'm arguing that very poor -- and poorly educated -- White people score in a surpirsingly anti-racist direction (compared with very highly educated Whites) on many measures. I agree that no one measure of anything is perfect. But I think that, taken together, the data suggest that (for some people) living in poverty greaty increases empathy for others who have suffered.

There is one thing we seem to agree on, which is that racism is very complicated.
